Why Artemisia?
Artemisia is a genus of the largest flowering plant family. They're known for their silvery-green foliage, aromatics, and potent essential oils.
They represent a connection between the earthly realm and air realm, specifically the moon, through their ability to connect us to our inner vision and dream state.
Well-known examples of humans interacting with these plants are: the making of absinthe with wormwood, use of mugwort tea for invoking dreaming states, burning of dried leaves for space clearing, and moxibustion in TCM for stimulation of various internal systems.
The goddess Artemis lends her name to these plants, which whom she shares many qualities: wildness, help in childbirth, connection to the moon, and huntress.
My practice is named in honor of these powerful plants who connect our Earthly physical bodies to the Airy nature of our spirits. It is in this connection that we are able to know ourselves more truly as souls incarnate.
Hi! I'm Genevieve.
The mountains have always been my home, and their ancient wisdom serves as a strong base for me to draw from in my practice. As a healing artist, I bring a sense of deep grounding that roots all aspects of our being: mental, emotional, spiritual, etheric. Like the many branches of a tree, I weave in my understanding of nutrition, herbs, massage, pranayama, and energy medicine to the trunk of self-healing. We are whole, and we are connected. I help you remember the wholeness that is inherent in each of us magical, beautiful beings.
I completed my 630-hour certified massage therapy training with Andrea Altman at Green Mountain Massage School in Hyde Park, VT in 2023. I also passed the FSMTB massage and bodywork licensing exam and continue to learn and incorporate a variety of therapeutic practices.
In 2015, I finished yoga teacher training at the 500-hour level, learning from Scott Willis at Hits the Spot Yoga in Brattleboro, VT. My knowledge of yogic philosophy, asanas, and physiology informs my practice as an energy and bodyworker.
I completed my Biofield Tuning practitioner training in August, 2024. This sound therapy uses tuning forks in the energetic field of a person to free up energy, reduce stress, and address specific physical and emotional concerns. I have found the results to be profound and deep, and I love working with people through this modality.
In 2024, I enrolled in the Flower Essence Practitioner course with Alaskan Essences, where I have learned how to work with these special remedies to effect profound change on all levels. These essences are part of my daily life, and I am thrilled to be able to share them with clients.
My goal is to work with you as the client to design a session that addresses the needs of your physical and energetic bodies, so each session you receive will look a little different, depending on what you're bringing that day.
In my bodywork, I draw from Swedish, Deep Tissue, Thai Yoga Massage, and Reflexology techniques, and I also often include energy work, such as Reiki and Biofield Tuning.
All sessions require an initial intake, where we discuss a brief health history, goals for your bodywork, and any contraindications. Please plan on being present 10 minutes prior to your first session, having filled out the intake and informed consent forms here.
I practice out of my studio in the beautiful town of Montgomery in Franklin County, Vermont.
